SMITHS SHOCKPROOF WRIST WATCH - BRITISH MADE

Offered for sale is a Smiths British made mechanical Wrist Watch from the 1960s, these watches were made at the Smiths/Ingersoll factory at Ystradgynlais near Swansea in South Wales - the factory closed in the early 1970s. The watch is in exceptionally nice condition and is fitted with a new and unused black leather arm band with a gilt clasp. This watch winds and sets smoothly, runs nicely and keeps good time - it would certainly make a good watch to wear everyday or a nice addition to your collection of British watches.

Smiths Calibre 602 (10½"'). gilded brass movement with 7 jewels and centre seconds.

Gilded (gold plated?) base metal case, 32 mm dia., with stainless steel snap-on back and 16 mm lugs.

Silvered face with applied gilt batons, gilt hands with neat red pointer on seconds hand, clean domed crystal.

Mechanical watches make the ideal gift - classic appearance and no battery to fade or fail. They do, however, require cleaning and oiling from time to time by a competent watchmaker and although usually good timekeepers, a mechanical watch needs to be wound regularly and the time will occasionally need to be reset.

We bought this watch for our collection because it is in exceptional condition but we now need to downsize, so it is being offered at a very low starting price with NO RESERVE!
