Nothing is known about the origin of 'GC' other than that he arrived at Loughborough's Great Central Station on a train and subsequently lived around the station, catching the occasional mouse or pigeon, finding warm and comfortable places to hide or sleep and demonstrating an unusual (for a cat) passion for riding on the company's steam trains - after a visit to the train's Restaurant or Griddle Car, where he usually managed to cadge some food from a friendly member of staff, he would walk down the train, find a vacant First Class compartment, curl up on a seat by the window and sleep for the rest of the trip!
