We finally broke through the ice to Cropredy Wharf on Saturday, 16th
January 2010 - it was quite difficult with 'Alnwick'
facing south. This meant breaking the ice while moving stern first but, with
the fresh water tank almost empty, the uxter plate
was below most of the ice - thus affording a degree of protection for the
propeller - even so, the propellor caught a few
hefty chunks of ice, and chopped them up, but it all seems to have survived
intact and there is no apparant damage.
'Alnwick' was the first boat to reach the water point at Cropredy Wharf in more than two weeks.
